ONE of Malvern's most historic buildings has been sold to a private investor.

Property agents GJS Dillon have sold the former Malvern Tourist Information Centre with the new owner planning to set up a coffee shop.

The historic property, which is set in the middle of the town, is one of the most prominent buildings in Church Street.

Acting on behalf of Malvern Hills District Council and Wychavon District Council, GJS Dillon’s associate director Andrew Lewis, sold it to a private investor.

The 2,597 sq ft mixed-use property contains a ground floor self-contained retail unit and a recently refurbished, self-contained three bedroom flat on the first floor.

The new owner of the property plans to convert the retail unit into a coffee shop.

Mr Lewis said: "As priorities shift towards companies finding spaces their staff enjoy working in, we believe that Malvern as a whole will benefit from this trend.

"The increase in office occupiers is likely to have a knock-on effect with empty retail units such as this one being re-purposed to cater for that market."
