A POPULAR food delivery website has opted to support a restaurant in Worcester to improve it's one-star hygiene rating, instead of removing them from using the platform.
Just Eat implemented a new policy in 2019 that any restaurants seeking to sign up to the platform are required to have a minimum Food Hygiene Rating of three.
Worcester News reported on June 10 that restaurant Your's Pizza Bite/Little India, in Ronkswood Hill was given a one star overall rating after FSA inspectors visited on May 12.
But the restaurant is still trading on Just Eat, as the company has said only zero-rated restaurants were removed from the Just Eat website when the policy came in to affect.
A spokesman for Just Eat said: "We have not removed legacy rated partners (as is the case with this restaurant) from our platform to date with the exception of all Zero rated restaurants when the policy was introduced in 2019.
"We believe that rather than removing low-rated businesses without giving them support, it is much more responsible to give them the support they need to improve their standards, while at the same time ensuring customers have full visibility of a restaurant’s food hygiene rating when ordering".
The company said they offer all 1 and 2 rated premises a free audit and re-inspection.
The spokesman said: "We are also investing more than £1million in a bespoke improvement programme for restaurants with a food hygiene rating of below 3."
The Worcester News approached Your's Pizza Bite/Little India, but no one was available for comment.
