A 60-year-old Malvern woman says she 'couldn't be happier' after losing almost four stone at Slimming World.

Tracy Gajewski, said losing the weight has changed her life and she can now enjoy walking on the Malvern Hills without getting out of breath.

She said: "I really struggled to find many 'before' photos because before joining Slimming World I hated the way I looked so much I would avoid having my photo taken.

"Now, that has completely changed and I love the way I look and couldn't be happier.

"I have dug out an evening dress I bought 27 years ago and am looking forward to finding somewhere posh for my husband to take me so I can wear it again.

"Slimming World changed my life. The best thing about it is just how easy it is.

"I love food optimising as there's no counting of calories or having to weigh and measure everything you eat. The fact that nothing is banned makes it not feel like a diet at all."

Tracy joined Slimming World in Oct 2019, she hit her first target back in August 2020 but then lowered it and hit her final target of 3st 10lb loss in January during the last lockdown.

Dr Jacquie Lavin, Slimming World Head of Nutrition and Scientific Affairs said: “The approach behind Food Optimising has always been based on science: not just the physiological science of weight loss but also the psychology – how we think about (and our emotional reactions to) food, our weight and the process of losing weight.

"To lose weight, we need to consume fewer calories than we use. This creates an energy deficit and the body then starts to use its energy reserves, which are stored as body fat.

"At Slimming World, we want to help people lose weight and to maintain this weight loss in the long term – and this means offering a plan that’s easy to stick to and enjoyable, and is sustainable in the long term.

“Faddy diets may work in the short term by drastically cutting calorie intake, but a diet that isn’t practical – for instance, that needs endless monitoring or counting, leaves us feeling hungry or deprived of our favourite foods, or means we can’t eat in the same way as our friends and family – is going to be very difficult to keep up.

"And as soon as we go back to our old way of eating, we’ll stop losing weight and are likely to regain the weight we lost.”
