POLICE in Malvern have been continuing to carry out speed checks and enforcement after repeated calls from residents for action.

We have previously reported on speeding issues in a number of locations in and around Malvern.

Now, officers from West Mercia Police have been carrying out a number of speed checks in different locations.

Officers set up in Wells Road with their speed guns monitoring the traffic on Monday morning having carried out similar checks in Hanley Road over this weekend.

Earlier this month, we reported how a speeding review is to be carried out outside two Malvern schools following repeated concerns of speeding.

The Safer Roads Partnership is investigating after a number of complaints of fast traffic near Dyson Perrins and St Joseph's in the town.

In addition, officers are being sent to assess both areas and report back on ways to make the traffic flow more safely.

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin said she had received a number of letters from constituents about the issue.

She said: "I have been getting letters from concerned constituents all over West Worcestershire about speeding and I share these with the Safer Roads Partnership, whose job it is to assess and recommend appropriate action.

"Speeding is one of the more common complaints, particularly in rural villages and measures like temporary speed indicators can act as a deterrent.

"I was concerned about reports of speeding outside schools and I am glad that these matters are under review."
