Police are appealing for information following an attempted murder.
An investigation is underway following an attempted murder in Whitesands, Dumfries, yesterday (Wednesday, May 12).
A spokesman for Police Scotland: "About 8.15pm a 45-year-old woman was struck by a car on Whitesands. Emergency services attended and the woman was taken to Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary with life-threatening injuries. She remains in a critical condition.
"A 26-year-old woman was also struck by the car but did not sustain any serious injuries.
"A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing."
Anyone with information or dash-cam footage that could assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 3169 of May 12.
