Travelodge has issued an update on bookings ahead of national lockdown restrictions easing across England.

Boris Johnson has confirmed the next step of the roadmap, which will see rules ease further on May 17.

We've put together everything you need to know.

Detailed information has been posted on the Travelodge website about the Covid-19 plans.

The website says: "Following the Government's roadmap announcements, we are in the process of contacting all customers with affected bookings (where we hold a valid email address) in date order and in advance of the date the booking has been made for. Please bear with us. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

"Bookings for stays in Scotland and Wales - in line with the easing of restrictions, our hotels in Scotland and Wales are now open for all customers.

"Bookings for stays in England - Leisure stays at hotels in England are not allowed until at least May 17, 2021. To comply with the UK Government's National Lockdown restrictions, our hotels in England are open for customers who have to travel for work purposes and other legal exemptions. Please only book to stay at a hotel in England if your stay complies with the exemptions allowed."

You can check which hotels are open in Cumbria by following this link.

"Our number one priority is the safety and security of our customers and teams, that's why we've created TravelodgeProtect+, our programme of cleaning and social distancing measures designed to keep our guests and teams safe," the website continues.

Flexible Rate Bookings

Travelodge's Flexible rate offers the most freedom to change bookings.

If you book a Flexible Rate, you can amend or cancel your booking for free up until 12:00 noon on the date of arrival and you'll receive a full refund for a booking cancellation.

You can amend or cancel your booking by visiting the Manage Bookingsection of the website.

Saver Rate Bookings

Saver rate bookings are non-refundable.

However, Travelodge have temporarily waived their usual change fee for Saver Rate bookings until further notice allowing you to change your arrival date free of charge.

You can amend your arrival date multiple times should you need to.

Amendments are subject to availability and must be on a like-for-like basis; this means the same rate type, same hotel and the same stay duration.

If the price for your new booking date is higher than your original booking date, you will need to make the additional payment to complete your booking.

Amendments must take place prior to 12:00 noon on the original day of arrival.

Please be aware that booking policy only allows you to book 325 days in advance.

Please visit the Manage Bookingsection of the website to amend your booking.

Food and beverage

The website details: "We have temporarily closed our on-site Bar Cafe restaurant and bars until further notice. We're sorry for any inconvenience.

"If you have stayed with us and had pre-booked and already paid for breakfast or dinner, please complete the Food and Beverage Form so we can refund you. Please bear with us as we're processing a high volume of refunds. Thanks for your understanding.

"Important - Please do not complete the Form if you have not yet stayed with us."
