PUPILS from a county primary school took part in a day of activities to commemorate legendary fundraiser Captain Sir Tom Moore.

Upton Upon Severn CofE Primary School took in a day’s activities on April 30 including running 100 laps of the field, writing 100-word stories and a series of maths problems around the number 100.

A spokesman said: “ We recognised the amazing achievement of Captain Sir Tom Moore’s one hundred laps of his garden, which made him a national treasure, on the day of what would have been his 101st birthday.

"Joining us for the afternoon Charley and Ben from Midlands Air Ambulance led the whole school assembly with Mrs Wills the Headteacher outside on the playground, in line with COVID protocol.

"They informed the children of the fantastic work that the Air Ambulance do to save lives and how vital the service is.

"The Charity is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with the theme of ‘Saving Lives by Saving Time’ and, as a school, we were delighted to be able to support them.”
