A MAN from Malvern who burgled a house while the owners slept upstairs has been jailed.
Anthony Layton broke into a house in the town on December 2, last year, stealing various items including cigarettes, purses and money.
All this took place while the occupants of the house were asleep.
He then rode away from the house on the victim's push bike and was stopped and arrested by uniformed officers.
All the stolen property was recovered.
The 33 year-old, of no fixed address, also then assaulted an officer by spitting in his face, verbally abused a paramedic and caused more then £5,000 worth of damage to an interview room at Worcester Police Station.
As if that wasn't enough, he then racially abused a detective who was interviewing him.
He pleaded guilty to all of the offences and was jailed for four years.
In addition, he also received 10 months in prison for assaulting a prison officer in 2019.
