THE latest Covid-19 vaccine site in Worcestershire opens tomorrow and we were allowed in for a sneak peek.

The new site, at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern, opens its doors at 8am on Tuesday and is being run in partnership by SW Healthcare and the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Group.

The vaccination hub is comprised of three "pods" - each with a check-in desk and vaccination tables.

The pods operate using a one-way system to minimise contact and it is hoped up to 2,000 vaccinations a day could be carried out on-site.

Clare Gould, CEO of SW Healthcare, said the site was already in demand with people in the area.

She said: "We are opening the Malvern vaccination centre at the Three Counties tomorrow (March 2) and will initially be offering the AstraZeneca Oxford Vaccine.

"We do not have any plans to offer the Pfizer vaccine though this may change in time.

"There are three portacabins and each can take six vaccinators.

"We don't plan to open up all three portacabins yet, but we are expecting to be able to do around 2,000 vaccinations a day."

The site is open from 8am until 8pm every day with those eligible for the vaccine able to book their appointments now.

The call for volunteers at the site was met with a huge response by the local community, with district councillor Tom Wells organising 56 people.
