HERE are some of the notable cases heard at Worcester Magistrates Court recently.

Two men were sentenced for stealing when they appeared in court at the end of last month.

Paul Raymond stole more than £150 worth of alcohol from the Co-op in Pershore.

Raymond, 40, stole £152 worth of alcohol from the store on January 23 2021.

He pleaded guilty to the charges at Worcester Magistrates Court on February 25, 2021.

Raymond, of Rose Avenue, Worcester, was ordered to pay compensation of £152.

A man from Malvern was also sentenced for stealing.

Sometime between September 1 2018 and September 30 2019, Stephen Evans, 63, stole an Apple iPad which cost £450 from the Festival Housing Association.

Evans, of Elgar Avenue, Malvern, pleaded guilty to the charges at Worcester Magistrates Court on February 25, 2021.

He was ordered to pay compensation of £450 and costs of £185 to the Crown Prosecution service (CPS).

Meanwhile, a man was banned from the roads for 18 months for drink-driving.

Markandu Ganeshanoorty, of Elgar Avenue, Malvern Link, was caught drink-driving on Pickersleigh Avenue in Malvern on January 31, 2021.

Ganeshanoorty, 37, had 61 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit being 35.

He pleaded guilty to the charges at Worcester Magistrates Court on February 25, 2021.

Ganeshanoorty was fined £200, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34, and costs of £135 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The 18-month driving ban will be reduced by 18 weeks if he completes a course by February 20, 2022.
