A MOTHER has spoken of her pride for her “miracle twins” who survived pregnancy 18 years ago.

From a multiple pregnancy back in 2003, sadly only these two survived.

Michael and Bryony celebrated their 18th birthdays on February 2 - two non-identical siblings.

Dawn Heasman, 55, from Callow End, said: “It is a bittersweet moment as when I was rushed to hospital at seven months pregnant, it was touch and go.

“The twins were around two pounds each when they were born and very small and put in an incubator at 10am at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

“I didn’t see them until 7pm which was very difficult.

“I prayed for them to make it and it was a very difficult time in my life.”

Both twins are popular with lots of friends, and Bryony dances and teaches at Dance in Motion Academy, based in Malvern and Michael has a passion for singing.

Bryony said: “Our Mum is the most amazing woman ever.

“She works so hard despite the challenges that she faces, especially looking after our dad, who has Parkinson’s.

“We love her so much and we appreciate everything that she has done for us.”

A get together was planned for family and friends but the current third lockdown restrictions prevented a big event from happening.

Mrs Heasman planned a special surprise for their 18th birthday and told the twins that decorators were coming to the house as a rouse.

Mrs Heasman added: “I told them we were having the front of the house decorated and not to look out so when it came to 8am, I told them to answer the knock at the door as I was ‘busy’.”

Hundreds of multi coloured balloons greeted the pair and a photo shoot was arranged for the hour to create lasting memories for the tight-knit family.

“Looking back, I didn’t think me,and my husband Robert would be in this situation.

“I’m just so glad my prayers were answered when I was sat in the hospital all those years ago."

“At the time, I didn’t know of anyone who had had multiple births and many people asked me if I had IVF treatment, because fertility treatment can cause more than baby to develop.”
