THE city's coronavirus infection rate dropped by almost half in a week, according to the latest figures.

Worcester's infection rate was 350.7 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 27.

A total of 355 cases were recorded in the week.

The rate dropped by 42 per cent on the previous week's figures.

It is the lowest the infection rate has been in Worcester since December 29.

The highest infection rate in Worcester was in Ronkswood and Nunnery Wood at 488.5 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 27.

The infection rate in Wychavon, which includes Evesham, Pershore and Droitwich, was 353.9 cases per 100,000 people - making it higher than the infection rate in Worcester.

A total of 458 cases were recorded in Wychavon which saw the infection rate drop by around 12 per cent on the previous week's figures.

Worcestershire's infection rate was 311.7 cases per 100,000 people in the same week - dropping by just under a third on the previous week's figures.

A total of 1,857 cases were recorded in Worcestershire in the week.

It is also the lowest the infection rate has been in Worcestershire since December 29.

The highest infection rate in Worcestershire during the week was in Redditch.

Redditch's infection rate was 410.5 cases per 100,000 people according to Public Health England.

A total of 350 cases were recorded in the week.

Malvern's infection rate was 177.9 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 27.

A total of 140 cases were recorded in Malvern Hills during the week.

The infection rate in Wyre Forest was 290.3 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 29.

A total of 294 cases were recorded in Wyre Forest in the week.
