PLANNED overnight closures of the A4440 Southern Link Road heading out of Worcester will not take place tonight.
Ongoing work had been set to shut the route towards Malvern during the early hours but the knock-on effect of flooding in the region has caused a rethink.
Worcestershire Highways & Travel tweeted: "Due to the ongoing contraflow arrangements in Worcester city centre, tonight's overnight closure of the A4440 Southern Link Road has been postponed. Some works in the area will proceed with localised lane closures from 9pm.
"Although flood waters are falling, we want to fully sweep roads of mud & debris and clean drains in Worcester city centre before removing contraflow arrangements.
"We are hoping to change back to the usual configuration overnight (on) Tuesday and will confirm tomorrow."
