NO FEWER than 10 flood warnings – where the public is advised that “action is required” – are in place in and around Worcester.

Each of them is highlighted along the River Severn between Grimley and Upton with flooding expected to continue at a number of notorious hotspots.

Starting to the north of the city, Camp Lane, Bevere and low-lying property at Hawford Wood is said to be at risk with Newport Street, Park View Terrace, The Butts and King Stephen's Mount expected to continue to suffer flooding as the problems travel south.

The A449 North Quay, Croft Road, Hylton Road Gyratory, Tybridge Street and A44 New Road are also on the radar.

Properties on Waterworks Road, Newport Street, Pitchcroft Lane, Quay Street, South Quay, Diglis Avenue and Hood Street, Croft Road, Diglis Dock Road, Diglis Lane and Diglis Avenue, Worcester, are all expected to be hit.

Farther south, flooding is expected at Dunns Lane, Upton, with Dunns Lane gate also closed.

Flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected to continue at East Waterside, Upton upon Severn, the B4211, Malvern Road including Marina road A4104 in Upton, around Hanley Castle and Saxons Lode.

The current forecast via the Flood Warning Information Services reads: “Rain is expected in the next few days which may keep river levels high and we will monitor for any further impacts. We are closely monitoring the situation.

“Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and avoid contact with flood water.”
