A BUSINESS is supporting children in the county by refurbishing laptops for remote learning amid the pandemic.

During the third lockdown, schools are shut to most pupils in a bid to tackle Covid-19 but some families do not have the technology for their kids to learn from home and those children could miss out on their education.

Worcester-based company Bits 'n PC'S, based in Astwood Road, decided to help out by giving their time and resources for free to turn around old laptops donated by the community ready for children to use.

Piotr Goledziejewski, who is a director of the company, said: "This time of year is quiet for us anyway, so I thought we can help children in need at the moment. We didn't expect it to go so well but we are still after donations of laptops from the public."

So far, staff have refurbished around 60 much-needed laptops.

Employee Nick Thurgood, aged 22, said: "Without sounding soppy, children are the future and we wanted to show our support, giving children all the tools needed for education.

"As people buy new laptops, they often store old machines away but for word processing and surfing the internet, the very latest machines are not needed."
