THE OWNER of a popular Malvern camping store has thanked customers for years of service after announcing the shop is due to close once lockdown comes to an end.

Harpers Bazaar in Worcester Road has been trading for 40 years in Malvern, selling military clothing and equipment, workwear and safety footwear, outdoor clothing and much more.

Owner Laurence Harper said.“We’ve been at the site for 40 years and before that we operated in Worcester.

“I want to thank all of the customers who have supported us over that period of time, and I particularly want to thank all the customers who have come in and sent their best wishes to my son and also the very large amount of get well cards that he has received from our customers.”

Laurence’s son Chris Harper, who also works in the Malvern Link store, suffered a massive bleed on the brain in November 2019.

Laurence, said: “In November 2019 my son Chris suffered the bleed on the brain, but he has made a fantastic recovery - and as I’m 75 we decided it was the right time to close the store, so we’ve actually been having a closing down sale since 2019.

“But we’ve had three lockdowns which is why we have postponed the closure as we still have plenty of stock.

“I can’t say when we will finish exactly at the moment, but we will look to close down four weeks after this lockdown period ends.”

Chris added: “I would like to say thank you very much indeed to our customers for being extremely friendly, and we have made a lot of good friends through the store.”
