FIVE new jobs have been created in Malvern with a new estate agents opening its doors.

County firm Nicol and Co, which has branches in Worcester and Droitwich, has opened the doors to the former Court Road Bakery in Court Road, Barnards Green, redeveloping the property into modern offices for sales and lettings.

This is the third office in the county and the staff positions are currently being filled with sales manager Erica Hinwood, sales consultant Charlotte Rowe and client relationship specialist Hannah Sheppard already taking up their roles.

Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol and Co, said: “We’re thrilled to have finally moved into our new offices in the lovely town of Malvern.

“It was always my intention to open three offices in key locations in Worcestershire, and Malvern is now the final piece in the jigsaw that adds to our branch network in Droitwich and Worcester.

“The new Malvern office has been almost two years in the making from when we first spotted the premises, and there were lots of challenges along the way, but we remained optimistic and excited about the opportunity.

“This expansion has created five new jobs in total, including our new sales manager Erica Hinwood who has made a great start since joining us as we came out of lockdown in May.

“Nicol & Co brings energy and enthusiasm to every market it operates in and now, with over 40 employees, the company is well placed to serve the whole of Worcestershire.”

Nicol and Co’s operations in Malvern began six months ago from its Worcester base while the new offices were being converted and this has already led to plenty of successful business in the area.

While upgrading the premises, efforts have been made to conserve elements of the frontage to the former bakery which many local people have fond memories of.

Sympathetic changes have been made including renewing the Victorian awning on the front and retaining some of the building’s other historical features.

Mr Nicol added: “A former bakery employee was brought to tears when she saw the improvements we have made, and the daughter and granddaughter of the 1970s owners wished us well on our Facebook post and are trying to locate old pictures for us to use in some way.”
