VILLAGERS near Worcester are being invited to have their say on proposed plans for the future development of their parish.

The draft Hallow Neighbourhood Plan, covering the period between 2020 and 2041, sets out the vision and policies which will govern development in the parish.

Part of the plan is for a site allocation of around 40 new homes at Greenhill Lane and includes a mix of policies to ensure any future developments have a mixture of housing types, including affordable housing.

The draft Plan also includes policies to protect important views, protect community and recreation facilities, retain existing wildlife habitats, protect the Hallow Conservation Area and proposes the designation of six new Local Green Spaces.

Hallow Parish Council has produced the document after working with the community and have now submitted it to Malvern Hills District Council for final public consultation. This started on January 15 and runs until 5pm on February 26.

Once the consultation is completed, the document will be subject to an independent examination and if approved a referendum will be held.

If more than 50 per cent of voters in the parish back the plan, it will become part of the statutory development plan for Malvern Hills District, sitting alongside the South Worcestershire Development Plan, and will be used when determining planning decisions in the Hallow parish.

Cllr David Harrison, Portfolio Holder for Planning, Infrastructure and Flooding on Malvern Hills District Council, said: “I congratulate the community of Hallow on the production of this draft plan.

"It is an important document which will guide the way the area grows and develops in future so it is really important that the people of Hallow let us have their views on the plan and its proposals.”

Hazel Kemshall, Chair of the Hallow Parish Council, said: “The Neighbourhood Plan sets out the community’s vision for Hallow to continue to be an attractive place to live that caters for the needs of all age groups in the area.
