Taking part in Veganuary this year?

This campaign challenges members of the public to adopt a vegan lifestyle for the first month of the year.

If you are taking part in this challenge, it doesn’t mean you have to live off a diet of water and vegetables.

You can still enjoy some tasty food, as many restaurants are vegan-friendly have offer a variety of plant-based options.

Best of all, each one of these places is operating a takeaway and delivery service during the pandemic.

Here are five of the best vegan-friendly places to order from in East Lancashire:

Jim’s Vegetarian Restaurant, Colne

If you are looking for a tasty vegan treat, Jim’s restaurant and café in Colne is a great place to order from.

Curry, bean burgers and Chocolate Orange Brownie are just some dishes that you can sink your teeth into.

Tripadvisor comments also seem to have high praise for the restaurant.

One person wrote: This is proper home cooked food.. don't expect any fancy presentation, just a tasty wholesome veggie or vegan meal.”

Freedom Organics, Darwen

Freedom Organics is a whole-foods store, but they also sell organic food for takeaway or collection.

They sell some tasty looking food, with different specials and mouth-watering food items on the menu each week.

Apple and Pear crumble and Sweet potato lentil stew are just two dishes that feature on the menu.

Many impressed customers have taken to Tripadvisor to praise the restaurant.

While it isn’t exclusively a vegan restaurant, it serves plenty of plant-based options that you are sure to enjoy this Veganuary.

All of their pasta dishes are vegan friendly, with the option to add meat if you are also ordering fro your non-vegan family or friends.

The Falafel Salad and Foul Medames (Egyptian dish made with beans, tomatoes and cucumber)  are also some vegan items which are up for grabs.

In the mood for oriental food but reluctant to break your Veganuary challenge?

Luckily for you, this small takeaway has you covered.

Vegan ‘duck’ Chow Mein and Kung Po dishes are just some of the vegan options available at this takeaway.

Crispy Chilli Vegan Chicken as well as Pumpkin and Tofu Thai Curry are two popular dishes on the chefs specials.

Although it is a very challenging time for the company, a spokesperson for them said they "never gave up" and say the business "keeps them sane" during this turbulent time.

They added: "Our goal is to try to encourage people give up meat indefinitely and we try to spread the benefits of going meat free.

The Riverside Deli is run by Andrew and Karen Fairclough, a couple who wanted to show how flavoursome vegan and vegetarian food can really by.

They specialise in wholesome food such as stews and curries.

Jackfruit wraps, Fajitas and pepperoni style pizza are just some mouth-watering dishes on the menu.
