A MAN has admitted a number of offences including drink driving and assaulting an emergency worker in Worcester.

Steven Smith pleaded guilty to assaulting Police Officer Bradbury on September 1 and resisting arrest when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court.

The 38-year-old also admitted driving a QINGQ motorbike in Dent Close, Worcester, when he had 49 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the legal limit being 35mcg. Smith, of Yardley Green Road, Bordesley Green, Birmingham, also accepted he had no insurance when he drove the motorbike on June 1 this year. Having spent time in custody, magistrates ordered Smith to stay at the court for a period, as part of his punishment.

Smith was disqualified from driving for a year, which will be reduced by three months if he successfully completes a drink drive awareness course. He was also ordered to pay costs of £135, which is to be paid in full by March 31.

Also at the court on Monday, December 1, Brett Cope of Laburnum Walk, Upton, admitted stealing alcohol worth £9.64 from the PJ Nicholls store in Malvern on February 14 this year. The 38-year-old also admitted stealing alcohol and ice cream, to the value of £9.16 from Spar in Upton on February 22.

And Cope pleaded guilty to two counts of drug driving. These were when he drove a Ford Focus in High Street, Upton on April 4 when he had 742 mg of Benzoylecgonine, a breakdown product of cocaine, in 100 ml of blood, and 14mg of cocaine in 100ml of blood, both above the legal limit.

Cope was disqualified from driving for three years and fined a total for all the offences of £176. He was ordered to pay compensation of £18.78 to the shops, as well as a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £135. The total, £361.78 is to be paid in full by January 11.
