MALVERN'S Labour Party has chosen its candidates for next year's Worcestershire County Council elections.

Councillor and former parliamentary candidate Samantha Charles will stand alongside Mayor of Malvern Cllr Neil Morton in the Malvern Chase and Langlands seats.

Cllr Charles, who works as a midwife and forensic medical examiner, represents Malvern Chase on the town and district councils, and called for a "new start" for the county.

She said: "Worcestershire County Council needs a new start and an injection of fresh ideas.

"I am not a councillor residents only see when there’s an election, making promises I don’t keep.

"I live among them in Bredon Grove and respond to all requests for help and advice.

"Local people tell me they are tired of being ignored by faceless county councillors who don’t even live in Malvern. It’s time for a change."

Cllr Morton added: "It is a privilege and an honour to be asked to stand to represent the residents of Langland in the county council elections next May.

"I will provide residents a real choice to vote for someone who will represent their views at both a county and local level.

"I live in Malvern and understand the issues and problems that residents face.

"I will be there to listen and whilst I may not be able to solve every problem I can give a commitment I will try."
