A NEW challenge is being launched to encourage residents across the Malvern Hills District to improve their wellbeing every day leading up to Christmas.

The Active Advent challenge - which will run from Dec 1 to 24 - comprises 24 daily challenges designed to give tips and activities to help physical and mental health in the run up to the festive period.

Cllr Tom Wells, portfolio holder for community services at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “Looking after your mental and physical health is so important, especially during the winter months and with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

"The Active Advent challenge is the perfect way to do this, by taking on small, daily challenges which will make a big difference in the long run."

Aimed at people of all ages, after signing up, participants will receive a virtual advent calendar and behind each door there is a link to a challenge to complete.

Daily challenges include practising mindfulness with a take notice walk, taking a break from mobile devices, making a nourishing smoothie and doing a desk workout.

At the end of some of the challenges there will be a letter, once all of these are collected, they will spell out a Christmas phrase. A medal is up for grabs for those who complete the challenge and send in the phrase.
