THE city’s coronavirus infection rates has continued to rise according to the latest figures. The infection rate in Worcester increased to 280.6 cases per 100,000 people with 284 cases in the week up to November 12.

Worcester’s rate increased from 221.3 cases per 100,000 people with 224 cases in the week up to November 5.

Worcestershire’s infection rate in the week up to November 12 was 247.6 cases per 100,000 people with 1,475 cases recorded in the seven days.

Infection rates continued to increase in most parts of the county - with Redditch recording the highest rate. Redditch’s infection rate increased to 337.8 cases per 100,000 people with 278 cases in the same week.

The rate increased from 308.5 cases per 100,000 people with 263 cases in the week up to November 5.

The figures show how the infection rates in Worcestershire grew in the first week of the second national lockdown with the latest numbers showing the state of the county after tough restrictions were introduced.

Wyre Forest’s infection rate increased to 285.3 cases per 100,000 people with 289 cases, increasing from 246.6 cases per 100,000 people with 268 cases recorded a week earlier.

The infection rate in Bromsgrove increased to 283.3 cases per 100,000 people with 283 cases - increasing from 212.3 cases per 100,000 people with 212 cases a week earlier.

Wychavon’s infection rate also increased slightly in the same week to 167.7 cases per 100,000 people with 217 cases.

The infection rate in Wychavon increased from 163 cases per 100,000 people with 211 cases in the week up to November 5.

The infection rate in Malvern Hills fell slightly to 113.1 cases per 100,000 people with 89 cases in the same seven days.

Malvern’s rate dropped from 120.7 cases per 100,000 a week earlier when 95 cases were recorded.
