A NEW railway crossing has been installed in Malvern after a long-running campaign.
The crossing has been installed at Lower Howsell Road and has been requested by residents and councillors for a number of years.
Town and county councillor Paul Tuthill said: "We have been pushing for a safer crossing for a long time so we can improve its safety.
"Ideally, we would like to have a footbridge over the railway lines to make it even safer, as it is used by dog walkers and schoolchildren.
"Nevertheless, I am very pleased Network Rail has done this."
Cllr Tuthill added the ongoing housing development nearby will result in a higher footfall when the crossing is in use, so it may need to be revisited in future.
