A WOMAN accused of breaking a child’s leg is due in court for sentence at Worcester Crown Court today.

Amy Chandler, 27, of Old Coach Road, Droitwich, is due to be sentenced today by Judge Nicolas Cartwright, sitting in court one.

We previously reported how she broke down in tears when she admitted a single count of child cruelty at an earlier hearing.

The details of the charge were that she ‘wilfully ill-treated the child in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury to health', causing her a right leg metaphyseal fracture.

The court is quiet at the moment with many defendants and advocates still to arrive. Security staff are on duty, checking people on arrival and everyone has to wear a mask in the public waiting areas. Cleaners wearing masks and yellow tabards are making sure floors and tables are clean ready for the day's business.

Other people due for sentence today are Christopher Best and Shane Smith.

Due to Covid-19 court two has restrictions in place which means counsel and the defendants appear remotely over link. Jentor Dushaj is due to enter a plea. Simon Boon is listed for sentence as is Tommy Jennings, Tom Davis and Allan Joseph Golding.

Also due to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing are Aurica Muti, Remus Vladutoaia, Cristi-danniel Stefanescu and Marius-anton Roman. The defendants are not required to attend.
