A DUDLEY man was handed a 21 week jail term, suspended for six months, for carrying a knife in Aldi.

Mark Taylor, of Langstone Road, admitted carrying a blade without lawful authority or good reason in Aldi on Stourbridge Road on April 30.

The 56-year-old received a suspended sentence and was ordered to pay a £128 surcharge and £185 in costs when he appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on August 19.

Also at Dudley Magistrates Court last week, a Netherton man was disqualified from driving for 12 months after drink driving in Wolverhampton.

James Whittingham, of Stretton Place, admitted driving over the legal alcohol limit, when he was found to have 41 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath in Fold Street on March 14.

The 23-year-old was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 12 months by magistrates on August 19.

He was also ordered to pay a fine, surcharge and costs totalling £417.

Over at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court, a 44-year-old man was fined for drunk and disorderly behaviour in Dudley.

Sajad Mahmood, of Marmion Grove in Dudley, admitted committing disorderly behaviour while drunk in Ivanhoe Street on April 28.

He was ordered to pay a £105 fine, £34 surcharge and £135 costs by the court on August 18.

Meanwhile, an Oldbury man was disqualified from getting behind the wheel for one year after committing a string of driving offences in Dudley.

Cory Bending, of Oakdale Road, admitted driving a BMW while disqualified and without insurance in Dudley on May 5.

The 29-year-old also pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis on May 5 when he appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on August 17.

He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for one year and was ordered to pay fines, surcharge and costs totalling £819.
