FOUR men have been charged with the murder of dad Reece Cox who died following a street attack in Sedgley.

Reece Cox, aged 24, suffered fatal head injuries after the attack outside the Clifton pub just before midnight on Saturday (August 14).

Police have confirmed that Wayne Burke, aged 22, of Queens Street, Pensnett; Shane Jones, aged 25, of Orchard Grove, Lower Gornal; Shaquel Halliday, aged 22, of Shadwell Drive, Lower Gornal and Adam Ashwin, aged 19, of Monument Lane, Sedgley have all been charged with Mr Cox's murder.

All four have also been charged with violent disorder and actual bodily harm and are remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Friday (August 21).

A fifth man, Tyrone Halliday, has been charged with violent disorder and actual bodily harm. The 24-year-old has also been remanded to appear before the court on Friday.

Detective Inspector Laura Harrison from the West Midlands Police Homicide Unit, said: “I want to say thank you to the community in Sedgley who have really pulled together during this very difficult time.

“We really appreciate the positive response we have had from the community that has assisted with our investigation."

A tribute released on behalf of Mr Cox’s family earlier this week read: “Reece was a great son, partner and dad; a gentle giant who was loved by everybody."
