Two walkers were rescued after getting lost in poor visibility near the summit of Scafell Pike.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue got the distress call at 1.42pm on June 21 and nine members of the team spent six hours getting them to safety.

A spokesman said: “They reported themselves to Cumbria police as being lost in poor visibility.

“By using the PhoneFind function, they were able to locate them and contact them by mobile.

“After directing them to safer ground, and then initial warming and refuelling, we helped them back to the valley floor.”
