WITH many hostelries opening from Saturday, thirsty pub goers may again have a chance to soak up the sun in a beer garden with a pint of their favourite tipple.

With the arrival of potentially warmer weather and the easing of the coronavirus lockdown, the reopening of pubs and beer gardens have been much anticipated by people in the Whitehaven area.

With landlords and ladies slowly getting back on their feet after months of closure we are sure many readers are keen to support local businesses.

This week, we asked our people to share their favourite choice for beer gardens.

Here, in no particular order are some of the recommended sites.

1 CASTLE KNIGHTS, LOW CORKICKLE, WHITEHAVEN

One Google reviewer said: "Excellent pub with great secluded beer garden, and to top it off the food is fantastic compliments to the chef , staff and owners."

Another said: "This place is so underrated Chef makes the most delicious food give this place a try."

2 SUN INN, MAIN STREET, HENSINGHAM

The pub comes highly recommended by reader Paul Simpson.

According to the Whatpub.com website it is dog and family firendly.

3 CASTLE BAR, MARKET PLACE, COCKERMOUTH

Located on Market Place in Cockermouth, the pub has a terraced beer garden.

Judith Scott said: “It is set out over three levels.

"Great friendly staff, great range of drinks, great food.

“Try it for yourself if you get the chance.”

4 SWINSIDE INN, NEWLANDS VALLEY, KESWICK

Becky Roberts posted: "The Swinside Inn at Keswick, or the Coldale Inn, also at Keswick.

“Both have fabulous views.”

5 WIGTON PARK BOWLING CLUB, WEST ROAD, WIGTON

One Tripadvisor reviewer said: "Good attractions are a beer garden at the back, a covered smoking area, a quiz every two weeks and occasional entertainment.

"I'd recommend The Globe Inn to anyone who wants a good meal, a friendly conversation and wants to watch sport."

A Tripadvisor reviewer said: "We called here for lunch and were very impressed. We were able to take the dogs in.
