THE parents to a Worcester schoolboy who has spent months abroad receiving cancer treatment is hoping to return home soon.

The heartwarming news comes after a video was posted of six-year-old Oscar Saxelby-Lee announcing he's six months cancer free and "hopefully coming home soon."

Oscar left National University Hospital in Singapore on April 9 after spending six months at the hospital while he received CAR-T therapy and a second bone marrow transplant.

The little boy received his transplant on March 13 from his dad, Jamie Lee, who donated his cells to his boy.

Oscar was allowed to leave the hospital as his tests showed he was still free from cancer.

Oscar's parents, Olivia Saxelby and Jamie shared the news on the Hand in Hand for Oscar Facebook page: "Results are in. I’m still Cancer FREE! Boy are we proud of this superstar!

"6 months without any sign of that horrid disease, 3 months post receiving Daddy’s MAGIC CELLS!

"We couldn’t be more grateful for our incredible team at National University Hospital - NUH.

"They truly are a dream team.... especially putting up with one pretty crazy mother!

"Oh you guys! Crying with so much relief, gratitude and joy!

"This is a huge milestone and we couldn’t have gotten here without each one of you!

"THANK YOU ALL SO SO MUCH!"

Oscar travelled to Singapore for CAR-T cell therapy after the nation backed his family’s plea to raise £500,000 to afford the treatment.
