PUPILS from Great Malvern Primary School have put together a wonderful commemorative video marking VE Day.

The film features pupils given their tributes and is set to a version of "We'll Meet Again" sung by former pupil Molly Smout.

Parents have been contacted by the school asking for images and videos of their own lockdown VE Day moments.

Nikki Selby, headteacher, said: "Our V.E Day video, produced by our brilliant staff and children, has really brought us all back together to mark this important occasion.

"We are not only going over and above to find these creative learning opportunities for our community but also making sure that our children continue to recognise the importance of those who sacrificed their lives to give us our freedom.

"This has been an emotional project to be involved in and I want to give credit to our teachers and families who have pulled out all the stops."

Great Malvern Primary staff also produced their own “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” video for the children last week and it is hoped that this V.E Day film will go viral and get the recognition it deserves.

Mrs Selby added: "The response from our community has been overwhelming. We had such a positive reaction to our staff film and it feels like the children have done this as their reply to us and the rest of our school community.

"We miss our children, we have a very strong community and this has been a fantastic way of bringing us all back together and to remember what an important day this is."

Families have dressed in red, white and blue and there are cakes and sandwiches aplenty in the touching film which was officially released on the 75th Anniversary of V.E Day.

Peter Hoare, parent of Evie Hoare, who appears in the film, said: "Great Malvern Primary is a fantastic school with a lovely family feel.

"We are all missing each other during lockdown and it was really important that Evie felt she was involved in this film to mark such a special occasion."
