THIS weekend we will welcome the first bit of warm sunshine as the temperature is set to reach 19C across the county.

Temperatures are set to hit highs of 14C on Saturday, April 4, with the sun making an appearance from behind the clouds.

But it will be Sunday that we will see the sun really shining, with temperatures set to hit 19C.

The weekend weather is set to be dry and warm, but cloud and rain look to push in from the west during Sunday night.

There will be a fresh southerly breeze. Monday will start on a rather wet note with spells of rain through the morning, but these will clear to give a dry and fine afternoon. Largely dry and fine on Tuesday too as high pressure builds in from the east.

While it is a warm weekend it is important to follow the governments’ guidelines to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

People are urged to protect themselves and others from coronavirus by abiding by restrictions on where they go.

What can and can’t people do to enjoy the sunshine during these lockdown restrictions?

There will be no going to the beach for the day, picnics in the parks or family barbecues to welcome spring, or people will risk being fined or arrested by police.

Instead, people can go on a walk for their daily exercise and sit in their garden.

Those using local footpaths when taking their daily exercise are reminded to:

  • Keep the recommended two-metre distance from other people
  • Only go out alone or with members of your household
  • Do not gather in groups
  • Keep dogs under close control
  • Wash hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds after exercise
