CAR PARKS are still open for visitors to access the Malvern Hills.

The Malvern Hills Trust, who manage the area are urging all members of the public to adhere to the Government advice regarding social distancing and avoiding any unnecessary travel.

Duncan Bridges ceo said: “These are very difficult times for everyone, and we understand how important access to green space is for people’s mental and physical health.

"However, everyone needs to heed the advice from the Government and Public Health England.

"Act responsibly to reduce the spread of the virus.

"We will be keeping up to date with official guidance over the coming days and weeks and will take any appropriate actions needed.”

The trust is extending the validity of all car park passes (both Resident’s and Annual passes) until at least May 31, so no one needs to renew their existing passes for the time being.

However, volunteer conservation days with stop, with immediate effect for the foreseeable future.

A spokesman for the Malvern Hills Trust said: “We’ve made this decision to help minimise contact between people to reduce the chance of transmission.

"The work our volunteers undertake is important, highly valued and greatly appreciated.

"Supporting the health and wellbeing of our volunteers, staff and the general public is vital.

"Thank you to all our volunteers for their hard work and we look forward to restarting our conservation days and seeing our volunteers again soon."

On Monday, a patient in the county died after testing positive for coronavirus.

This is the first death caused by the virus confirmed at a Worcestershire hospital.
