PANCAKE racing in the park returned to Malvern having been postponed after last week's terrible weather.

The annual pancake races, hosted by Malvern Rotary Club, saw Priory Park filled with residents taking part for a good cause.

Jack Hegarty, CEO of Malvern Hills District Council, opened the races along with Brian George, president of Malvern Rotary Club.

The races had been due to be held on February 25, but were postponed after the park became waterlogged.

This unfortunately meant several of the teams were unable to take part in the rescheduled races.

Sponsors included Malvern Hills District Council, Waitrose and Morgan Motor Company and the elite category race was won by the Waitrose team.

Each child who took part received a goodie bag for taking part and the veterans category was won by a team from Save the Children.

Barry Kent from Malvern Rotary said: "Malvern Rotary are grateful to sponsorship from Morgan Motor Company and Waitrose plus help and assistance from Malvern Theatres and Malvern Hills District Council.

"Hopefully we have raised enough money to provide our annual donation to End Polio now campaign."
