IT seems, working on our story about the ongoing security issues at Malvern Retail Park, that not enough is being done by the various interested groups to take ownership of the situation.

Each group we have contacted seems to be passing the buck on the lack of CCTV, saying it is somebody else's responsibility - this is not good enough.

Surely it is not beyond the wit of man to get representatives of the landowners, council, police and management round a table to discuss the problem, and it is a problem.

In the last few months we have seen two brothers steal nearly £500 worth of goods from the retail park, vandals smash up a bus stop and four people being arrested for trying to break in to Morrisons.

Still, though, each group with a stake in the retail park seems to pass the buck, each saying it is not their duty.

Credit where credit is due to Councillor Paul Bennett for taking an interest and holding the various groups such as Morrisons, Cushman Wakefield, Surrey County Council and West Mercia Police to account.

It is only by highlighting the ongoing concerns surrounding the retail park that we can hope to see action taken.

Not having CCTV or regular police patrols in the area makes it a beacon for crime and anti-social behaviour, so we urgently need someone to get involved and make something happen.

It is encouraging to see some of the groups commit to working together on the issue, but, as with all things, only time will tell.
