POLICE have revealed that a teenager killed in Southampton died of a single stab wound to the chest.

James Laurie, 17, of Montague Avenue, Southampton, died in hospital on Sunday following reports of a stabbing.

The 17-year-old was rushed to hospital in a serious condition and police confirmed on Sunday that he had died.

A post examination has taken place and police investigating the incident have confirmed that James died from a single stab wound to the chest.

It comes as James' parents paid tribute to their son.

They said: "We will miss you and your cheeky smile forever.

"You were full of life. We will always think of you. Sleep tight now.

"We ask for privacy at this incredibly difficult time."

They have also released this image of James to pay tribute to him.

The investigation into James’ death is ongoing.

A 15-year-old boy from Andover, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody.

Yesterday, a forensic team were seen investigating the house where it is believed James was stabbed.

Around ten police cars surrounded the scene, which was cordoned off with police tape.
