VANDALS have struck at an outdoor photographic art installation.

Jan Sedlacek, 40, runs the Digitlight Photography shop in Malvern.

He was commissioned by Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to create photographs to brighten up Church Walk in the centre of the town.

Mr Sedlacek said: "A friend tipped me off on Saturday night [December 21] telling me vandals had struck.

"He said it was was out of control teenagers on a rampage.

"They ripped the photographs off the wall.

"Some of them held well on the wall so just the protective glass cover was ripped.

"I have no idea what happened to the missing prints.

"There are about four or five panels damaged or missing off the wall completely.

"The photos made a fairly boring wall seem nice and bright, giving people something to look at.

"This attack is not going to stop me and in fact, it's encouraged me to be more productive.

"I'm very humbled and encouraged by truly heart warming messages of appreciation for my well known photographic art work and efforts from customers at my shop."

Landscape photographs for the project were taken of Malvern, showing the town during daylight and night time.

A spokeswoman for the Malvern Hills Trust, said: “We are really disappointed that this has happened.

"Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Jan, the photographer, have put a lot of work into this project to brighten up Church Walk.

"It's particularly disappointing because it was commissioned to celebrate 60 years of the Malvern Hills AONB."

Mr Sedlacek plans to replace the missing panels and reprint the photographs to make the installation complete again.

Anyone with information on the vandalism can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on: 0800555111.
