A BRADFORD mum-of-two has spoken of her despair and anger after raiders ransacked her family’s home and took all her valuables as well as ruining a memory box which held mementoes of a baby she lost.

Atifa Butt said the burglars broke into the house on Toller Lane on Wednesday afternoon while she was at work and her husband Faisal had popped out.

She said someone must have seen the raiders carrying away the family’s valuables and has asked people in the area who did see something to contact the police so that the burglars can be stopped from ruining someone else’s life.

She said she was particularly devastated that the raiders had ruined a memory box for her son who passed away as a baby and broke the frame holding his footprints and handprints.

The 44-year-old solicitor said: “I’ve been crying since the incident happened.

“It’s heart-breaking because of the devastation left behind.

“They've destroyed my life.

"I don't want anyone to go through what I went through.

"A lot of things can't be replaced.

"I treated the memory box like a shrine."

Among the haul was all her wedding jewellery and bridal rings, family heirlooms, watches, her laptop and computer, perfume bottles, designer handbags and sunglasses.

"I'm gradually thinking of what's been taken. They've left me with no jewellery whatsoever.

"I'm out of my mind. I haven't eaten.

"When your house has been turned upside down you're in shock."

She said although the family have insurance, a lot of the items have sentimental value and cannot be replaced.

"Couldn't they have left my memory box alone?

"It shows what type of people they are.

"All the money in the world wouldn't bring my baby's footprints back."

She said she and her two young sons had been left really scared by the incident.

Her eldest son has just turned six and the younger one is just coming up to three and she said they have been badly affected by the incident.

The raiders also went through the boys' rooms, taking out clothes from drawers and even stealing gift cards and birthday money.

"You feel scared in your own home," Mrs Butt added.

"My entire body was trembling. It was a shock to the system."

She said she just wanted the people caught and brought to justice so they did not do the same to someone else.

She said the police forensics team had only found glove marks and no fingerprints.

The burglars broke into the house by smashing the patio door at the back after first smashing a window in a side door in an attempt to try and find the key.

They then ransacked the house.

Police issued the family with a crime number, 13190621883, and Mrs Butt asked that anyone who had information about the burglary should report it to police.

She said: "There is so much traffic here, I'm surprised no-one has seen them. They must be trying to sell them."

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said that no arrests had yet been made concerning the incident.
