A PARISH Council is to launch ambitious plans to become carbon neutral much faster than other local authorities.
Hanley Castle Parish Council is hosting a public meeting to discuss ways to save energy and make a more concerted effort to become carbon neutral in just six years.
Sue Adeney, a HCPC councillor, is leading the meeting, which will hear what steps other councils in Worcestershire are taking as well as how a special car club in the Malvern Hills is countering the necessity for second cars.
There will also be a report from the Hanleys Energy Action Team (HEAT) on effective measures to save on energy.
A panel of speakers with expertise in solar and biofuel energy, electric cars and forestry will also be on hand to answer questions.
Plans are in hand to set up working groups on energy, carbon capture, transport, procurement, waste reduction, and plastic. This inaugural meeting will take place on Thursday, November 28 in Hanley Swan village hall between 7.30pm and 9pm.
