MALVERN Rugby Club's Midlands Two West match at Lichfield tomorrow (Saturday) will have a major effect on the rest of their season and director of rugby David Robins describes the game as a four-pointer against formidable opposition.

The Spring Lane side need to bounce back quickly following their first league defeat of the season, going down 10-28 to Hereford at home on Saturday which left Robins very disappointed.

He said: "I felt we had done enough to win it in the first half but at the end of the day we lost to a better side.

"We should have capitalised on the 80 per cent of possession we had in the first half and, had we done so, would have been much further ahead. We didn't use the wind enough, trying to run the ball through them and when our line-out didn't dominate in the second half the wheels started to come off.

"We also tried to run the ball out of trouble, but Hereford are a good side and just kept forcing us into making errors. They also used the wind much better to keep us pinned back.

"I was very disappointed with our second half showing and we have to put it right in training for next week's match. Our back row were our most effective unit, whilst I felt that our front five met their toughest opposition to date and our backs were a bit static.

"We have a pivotal match at Lichfield on Saturday, especially as they are now above us on points difference.

"It's a big ask, but we are a good side and now we need to go out and prove it."

The match at Lichfield kicks off at the now standard time of 2.15pm.
