Malvern Theatres has introduced new dance and vocal classes this autumn for people of different ages and abilities, including a tailored class for people with limited mobility.

There’s also a new monthly dance masterclass hosted by visiting instructors, as well as vocal classes for children and young people.

These classes are in addition to the theatre’s regular weekly classes, which include dance for people aged 55 and over, and an art class for people with learning disabilities.

The ‘enJOY Dancing’ class, for people with limited movement, including people in wheelchairs, is on Fridays at 10.30am and costs £4.

The class explores different styles from swing to Latin, and improves mobility, coordination and balance. No experience is necessary.

‘Dance Monthly’, the new monthly masterclasses, include Broadway-style (October 15), contemporary (November 19), and classical with Ballet Cymru (December 10). Workshops are two hours long and cost £12

The Junior Vocal Academy (7-12 years) is on Thursdays at 4.15pm and the participants work towards a performance at the end of each term. Classes cost £5 each or £60 for the term.

The Senior Vocal Academy (13+ years) is on Thursday at 5.15pm and participants will build a portfolio of songs, while learning professional vocal techniques.

Bridget Lloyd, head of creative learning, said: “We are committed to ensuring that everyone, no matter their age or ability, can participate.

“People with limited movement, whether that means age has taken its toll or if you’re wheelchair bound, can join in our new class and get something from it.”

“Our new vocal classes will give children and young people the opportunity to gain confidence and to explore their own capabilities, while experiencing the joy of singing in harmony with others.”
