A COUNTY brewery is celebrating being named among the best in the country.

The Hop Shed, in Suckley, was awarded 10 stars by the Great Taste food and drink awards as one of its stars of 2019.

The brewery was chosen from more than 12,000 different products from more than 100 different countries.

The Hop Shed proudly received 10 stars in total, including a three-star Great Taste award for its Frizzle IPA, only awarded to 208 entries.

For a Great Taste 3-star award, an overwhelming majority of expert judges must agree that the food or drink is ‘extraordinarily tasty’ and delivers that indescribable ‘wow’ factor.

The judges thought Frizzle IPA was "A beautifully balanced IPA, a marriage of floral and bitter that really works, an absolute joy to drink."

The Hop Shed’s Sultan Gold, Phoenix Porter and Wybar Amber Ale all received 2 stars meaning they are ‘above and beyond delicious’ and Pekin Pale Ale received 1 star.

Sarah Saleh, head brewer, said, "Our decision to build the brewery on a hop farm and only use British hops has really paid off.

"We are delighted to have received awards for 5 of our beers from such a prestigious organisation as The Guild of Fine Foods.

"The stars we have been awarded prove that Worcestershire and Herefordshire hops are as good as any foreign hops for producing award winning beers."

Co-founder Hani Saleh said: "We have been brewing for nearly three years now and have a good reputation amongst our customers for producing consistently good quality beers and we hope these awards will help to spread the news that The Hop Shed does brew truly ‘Great British Beers’ using 100% British hops.

"We are always looking for additional outlets for our beer and we hope these awards will encourage more pubs, shops and other outlets to get involved and stock our award winning beer."

In 2018 the Visit Worcestershire Awards for Excellence named The Hop Shed as ‘Best Drinks Producer’
