A DAD says it is a disgrace that he has been left without support from a housing association after a house-swap gone wrong.

Kevin Halford took part in the swap for a flat in Orchid Court in Malvern, and was dismayed to find that the previous owner had left it in a “terrible state”

Mr Halford says that when he went to look at the flat, he did not notice that the radiators were leaking because there were towels over them and that since he moved in, Fortis Living have refused to help because he already went and viewed the house.

He said: “When we went and looked they covered everything up so we couldn’t see.

“It is a disgrace that Fortis say they can’t help because it is disgusting.

“My son refuses to use the bathroom here because the toilet is leaking and I just don’t know what to do.

“I moved out of my previous flat to come here which was immaculate, and to go from that to this is heartbreaking.”

Clare Greensall, regional manager, Communities and Neighbourhoods (West) for Fortis Living said : “Facilitating a mutual exchange includes a visual inspection of the properties.

“We cannot guarantee how outgoing customers leave their properties once the mutual exchange has been authorised and the moves take place.

“It is the customer’s responsibility to arrange the moves and leave their properties in a suitable condition.”

“Any repairs required can be reported by calling 0330 1230700 or by emailing info@fortisliving.com.”
