AN elderly woman who was found in a critical condition at her home in Cradley is still in hospital - but is no longer fighting for her life.

The woman was found along with an elderly man, who died in hospital.

They couple, in their 80s, were found at around 9am on Monday (July 8) at an address on Overend Road, Cradley.

The man died on Wednesday (July 10).

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said today (Tuesday) that the woman is still in hospital but has improved and is no longer in a critical condition.

She said officers are still investigating and are waiting for a post mortem to be carried out on the man.

They are not thought to be looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a medical emergency on Overend Road at 8.57am on the morning of Monday (July 8).

"Two ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene. On arrival we discovered two patients, a man and a woman.

"They both received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene before both being transported to Russell’s Hall Hospital.”

In an earlier statement West Midlands Police said: "The husband and wife, aged 87 and 84, were taken to hospital.

"Sadly, nothing could be done to save the man, and he passed away on Wednesday (10 July).

"The woman remains in hospital."
