STAFF and regulars from a Ledbury pub are celebrating after being named in a prestigious guidebook.

The Oak Inn at Staplow, near Ledbury, has been named in the 2020 AA Pub Guide.

The book, published every year, showcases the best pubs across the country, and the Oak Inn is one of only five in Herefordshire to be named in the guide this year.

It is the first time the pub has been named in the guide, and managers Chris Howell and Heather Owen said they were delighted at the accolade.

Mr Howell said: "We started in November, and although we both have little experience but the owners Hylton & Jules have given us so much support.

"They believe in us and our people skills, hard work and enthusiasm bear fruit.

"In our opinion the Oak Inn is a good old fashion traditional countryside Inn, pure quality, from the moment you walk through the door you receive a warm and friendly welcome.very cosy and homely.

"With the excellent standard of our cuisine from head chef Simon Rogers, we are confident of meeting our customers expectations time after time as our TripAdvisor reviews prove and so many of our diners keep coming back for more.

"Then there is our hidden gem our South West facing Beer Garden with magnificent views of the Herefordshire countryside and beautiful sunsets."

The pub regularly hosts quiz nights on the first Sunday of every month and free live music on the second Sunday of every month.

There are only four other pubs in Herefordshire in the AA Pub Guide for 2020, they are The Riverside at Aymestrey, Titley's the Stagg Inn and Restaurant, the Saracens Head Inn, Symonds Yat and the Mill Race in Walford.
