A PUB is close to re-opening after being shut for three years as work progresses on a substantial refurbishment.

The Plough and Harrow in Guarlford, which closed down in 2016, was bought by pub company Brunning and Price with a view to re-opening.

The firm also says it's looking for around 50 people to work there.

A spokesman for Brunning and Price said: “Now that we have the management team in place, we have turned our attentions to recruiting around 50 local people to work in the bar, waiting, kitchen and maintenance roles.

The pub is now expected to open its doors again on Wednesday, August 21 as work nears completion.

The old house and the historic pub have been joined and now have the addition of a garden room that will look out onto a stone patio, lawns and a wildflower meadow beyond.

Upstairs there is a private dining room that will seat 20 for small gatherings and large family meals.

Josh Nicholson will be at the helm as manager of the pub, moving to Guarlford with his girlfriend Chloe and their three-month-old baby girl, Isabella.

Josh is currently the manager of the Horse and Groom in Hare Hatch, Berkshire.

Brianna O’Sullivan also joins the management team as deputy manager.

Born in America, she has been working as deputy manager at the Rowbarge, Woolhampton.

Jason Henderson joins the team as head chef from the Greyhound near Wootton in Oxford.
