A BEAUTY salon is raising awareness of ovarian cancer after one team member lost her mum to the disease last year.

Jackie Munrowd, the receptionist at Belle Beauty in Worcester Road, was devastated after her mother Peggy died in 2018.

Since then, Jackie has been determined to deliver her mother’s wish to raise awareness – and funding – to make more people aware of the signs of the terrible disease.

So far Jackie has teamed up with Target Ovarian Cancer – the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity, which works to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research and provide much-needed support to women with the disease.

She hosted a raffle at the salon offering the chance to win prizes donated by local businesses, held a cake sale on her mother’s birthday at the salon and raised money at a comedy night hosted by the British Legion in Cradley.

So far, Jackie has raised over £400 for the charity’s valuable work.

She said: “I’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone around me. People have been donating money, prizes and the team at Belle Beauty have been amazing allowing me to use the salon as a platform to raise awareness.

“I’ll continue raising money with the help of my family, friends and the Belle Beauty team – hopefully this will raise awareness of a disease that I think more people should be aware of.”
