Dog owners are being encouraged to get active at a Green Dog Walkers event.

Organised by Malvern Hills District Council, the hour-long walk will be held from 1.30pm today (Friday) at St Wulstan’s Nature Reserve.

The event, part of National Walking Month, offers dog owners the chance to socialise with like-minded people in a positive environment.

Green Dog Walkers encourages owners to clean up after their pets. They are also urged to lend a dog waste bag to those without and to be a friendly reminder to other dog walkers to clean up after their dogs.

Those who have not already signed up the to pledge can do so on the day and will receive a badge and dog waste bags.

Jude Allen of the council said: “We are pleased to invite local dog owners to take part in our walk and talk event. The scheme is a friendly way of educating and encouraging dog owners to clean up after their pets. Not disposing of dog waste correctly can be harmful to people, animals and the environment.”
