HEADLESS Cross Community Orchard will once again be hosting its annual May Fayre on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6.

The event runs from 11am until 3pm and showcases a fruitful variety of entertainment alongside craft, community and food stalls.

Opening the day will be French horn ensemble 'Hornymental', with local poet Spoz as compere.

At midday the traditional Maypole dance will be performed by dancers from the 2nd Headless Cross Brownies, accompanied by Arrow Valley Brass Band.

Gardeners are welcome to bring and share plants at the plant swap stall, while the orchard’s food stall will be serving-up their ever popular rare-breed barbecue and range of vegetarian homemade soups.

Orchard volunteer Gabby Hemming said: “It’s a family event and so there’s something for everyone, whatever your age.

"We’re also delighted to host the 'Shed of Stories' who’ll be storytelling throughout the day. Plus there’s live music, free games, stalls to browse and of course our cider bar.

"The summer starts here! So come on and join us.”

Along with the Amazing Human Fruit Machine, the event also features a pole-lathe demonstration by local craftsman Richard Weaver and the chance to paint your own 'Green Man Garden Charm' with artist in residence at the orchard, Sharon Sheward.

Headless Cross Community Orchard was planted in 2010 by volunteers who continue to maintain the green space.

The orchard is host to Worcestershire varieties of fruit tree, including the Redditch Doddin apple.
