People of all ages and abilities are being invited to shake their stuff when The Big Splash Dance returns to Priory Park, Malvern, next month.

The free event, previously known as the Flash Mob, will be held at noon on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6.

Participants will have the chance to meet new people and make friends, reduce the risk of some illness and disease, reduce stress and have fun.

In preparation for the event, Active Communities has partnered with Dance in Motion Academy to offer a series of free dance classes to teach people the routine.

The classes will be held at the Dance in Motion Academy at Byre Court, Sandy’s Road, Malvern.

The next class is on Tuesday, April 23, from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, and subsequently on April 24, 25 and 28, and on May 3 and 5.

The Big Splash Dance will run alongside the May Day activities held as part of the Well Dressing and Water Festival.

Adele Hodges of Freedom Leisure, said: “This will be the third year we are running free classes where individuals and groups can learn the steps before coming together for a dance in the park."

Victoria Carman of Malvern Hills District Council said: “We are eagerly looking forward to welcoming the annual flash mob dance back to Priory Park. The event is a brilliant part of our much-loved Malvern Well Dressing and Water Festival and is a great chance for people to enjoy our beautiful district whilst getting active.”

The classes will cater for all abilities and no experience is needed.

The dance is choreographed with a variety of sections that provide different levels of challenges.
